Angels of Avalon

Angels of Avalon are not divine beings, nor servants of any faith. We are Dimensionless entities who entered this universe with a single purpose: to protect it from the growing threat of The Battalion. Though we bear the appearance of angels, our form is only a reflection of how this reality perceives us. We stand as guardians against the forces that would unravel this world.

Rules

Angels of Avalon is a themed Challenge Super Group. The Requirements page explains how to create an Angel. These rules explain how members are expected to participate after joining. The goal is simple: have fun, respect the theme, respect each other, and help keep the SG active.

1. Have Fun

This is a game. Have fun and enjoy yourself.

Angels of Avalon has limits because it is a Challenge SG, but those limits are meant to make the group more interesting, not stressful. Build an Angel you actually want to play, join events when you can, and enjoy being part of Angels of Avalon.

2. Play What You Like

When you create an Angel, choose a character concept, powers, and style that you are interested in playing.

If you later decide that Angel is not working for you, you may remove her and create a different Angel, as long as the new character follows the SG requirements.

Your Angel should be something you enjoy playing, not something you feel forced to keep.

3. Respect

Treat fellow Angels, coalition members, allies, guests, and other players with respect.

Keep SG chat and group activity welcoming. Disagreements happen, but drama should not be brought into the SG. If there is a problem, bring it to leadership instead of turning it into a public argument.

4. Team Play

During SG events, members are expected to cooperate with the team.

This includes staying with the group when needed, listening to event leaders, helping teammates, and not intentionally disrupting missions, Task Forces, Trials, or other activities.

Angels of Avalon is a Challenge SG. The group works best when everyone respects both the theme and the team.

Chaos does happen. People may go in different directions, get distracted, or zone out while relaxing. That is understandable, but please try not to cause too much chaos. :)

5. Scheduled SG Night

Our official Angels of Avalon SG night is:

Wednesdays at 8:00 PM Eastern / 7:00 PM Central
Server: Excelsior

Members are encouraged to attend SG nights whenever possible, but we understand that real life comes first. You may also play your Angel at any other time.

SG nights may include missions, story arcs, radio missions, Task Forces, Trials, badge runs, events, or other group activities.

6. Activity

Members should log in on at least one Angel every 30 days to remain active.

If you have more than one Angel, logging in on any one of your Angels counts for your activity. However, members with multiple Angels are encouraged to rotate through their other Angels when possible so each character receives play time.

If a member has not logged in on any Angel for 30 days and has not contacted leadership, they may be removed to make room for active members.

Removal for inactivity is not a punishment. It simply means we did not know whether you were returning.

7. Leave of Absence

If you know you will be away for more than a month, please let leadership know.

You can contact:

  • @darkkeepr
  • @Ivory Kix

You may reach out by in-game tell or in-game email.

Please keep leadership updated when you can, especially if your time away becomes longer than expected. If we do not hear from you for six months while you are on Leave of Absence, your place in the SG may be reviewed.

8. Returning After Removal

If you are removed for inactivity, you may return when you have time to play again.

Being removed for inactivity is not a permanent ban from Angels of Avalon.

However, if the same pattern keeps repeating — joining, disappearing without contact, being removed, then returning again and again — leadership may decide not to allow another return.

9. Roleplaying

Angels of Avalon is not a required roleplaying SG, but roleplaying is allowed.

If you enjoy roleplaying, you may do so as long as you are respectful of others. Not every SG member or coalition member may be interested in RP, so please be mindful.

You are also welcome to RP with others outside the SG, but your Angel should still remain consistent with the Angels of Avalon concept.

10. Stay in Theme

Angels should remain consistent with the SG's concept during SG activities.

Angels of Avalon characters are not monsters, animals, robots, tech-based characters, or evil beings.

Your character's personal story is yours to develop, but it should fit within the larger Angels of Avalon lore.

11. Origin

Angels of Avalon are Dimensionless beings from outside the universe. They exist beyond ordinary time, space, and reality as most beings understand them.

They were part of the war against The Battalion before coming to Earth. After the fall of Camelot, some Angels remained connected to Avalon while others left to explore the world. Others may have been scattered after the war and later answered Angel Lux's call to come to Earth.

This is the default origin for all Angels. Exceptions may be allowed if leadership feels the story fits the SG and adds something interesting.

For deeper background, see the Lore section.

12. Archetype Limits

To keep the SG fair and organized, Angels of Avalon uses the following archetype limits:

  • Each archetype is limited to 15 Angels.
  • Once an archetype reaches 15 Angels, that archetype is closed until space opens.
  • A player may not have two Angels of the same archetype.
  • The SG has room for 150 Angels total.

These limits help keep the roster balanced and prevent one archetype from taking too much of the available SG space.

13. Ranks

Ranks are not just titles. They show how long a member has been part of Angels of Avalon, whether their Primary Angel has reached level 50, and how many Angels that player may have in the SG.

Your first Angel is your Primary Angel. Only your Primary Angel can advance through the full rank path to Seraph.

  • ANGEL
Angel is the starting rank. Every new member begins as an Angel. To become an Archangel, your Primary Angel must be with the SG for at least 90 days and reach level 50. At this rank, the player may have one Angel total.
  • ARCHANGEL
An Angel who has been with the SG for at least 90 days and has reached level 50 may become an Archangel. Archangel represents the first major step of commitment to the SG. At this rank, the player may have up to two Angels total, as long as the archetype rules are followed.
  • OPHANIM
After another 90 days of active membership, an Archangel may become an Ophanim. At this rank, the player may have up to three Angels total, as long as the archetype rules are followed.
  • SERAPH
After another 90 days of active membership, an Ophanim may become a Seraph. Seraph is the highest normal member rank. At this rank, the player may have up to four Angels total, as long as the archetype rules are followed. Only the player's Primary Angel may become a Seraph. Secondary Angels do not advance to Seraph. Seraph-ranked members may also be considered for officer responsibilities if they are interested and leadership approves.

14. Leadership Approval

Leadership has final approval on questions involving:

  • Character concepts
  • Costume exceptions
  • Arm tattoos
  • Theme questions
  • Rank questions
  • Roster exceptions
  • Returning after repeated inactivity

This is not meant to be harsh. It simply keeps the SG consistent and prevents confusion.

15. Character Changes

Major changes to an Angel's name, powers, costume theme, origin, or concept should be approved by leadership first.

Small costume adjustments are fine as long as they still follow the SG requirements.

If you want to replace an Angel with a new one, that is allowed, but the new Angel must follow the current SG requirements.

16. Base Access and Visitor Information

The Angels of Avalon base is the Isle of Avalon.

Base Code: AOA-32721

Visitors are welcome to enter and explore the island. Please read the signs along the paths so you do not get lost.

The Angel Tower contains statue spaces representing Angels and their power names. These statues are part of the SG's identity and lore.

17. Final Rule

Have fun, stay respectful, stay active, and stay true to the theme.

Angels of Avalon is not for everyone, and that is part of what makes it special. If you enjoy the idea of building and playing within a shared concept, then you may be exactly where you belong.

Requirements

Angels of Avalon is a themed Challenge Super Group. These requirements explain how to create an Angel who fits the SG’s theme, powers, costumes, forms, weapons, and visual style.

Angels are based on elemental power, limited non-tech weapons, hand combat, and the legends of Avalon. Tech-based characters, monster characters, animal characters, robotic characters, and evil-themed characters do not fit the Angels of Avalon concept.

Character Theme

All Angels should fit the shared Angels of Avalon concept.

Angels are female characters with human body parts and an Avalon-inspired winged guardian appearance. Their powers should feel elemental, mystical, martial, radiant, natural, or knightly rather than technological, monstrous, robotic, or villainous.

Archetype Limits

The following archetypes are not allowed:

VEATs

VEATs are not allowed because they are tied too closely to Arachnos, and some VEAT builds are heavily tech-based. This does not fit the Angels of Avalon theme.

This includes:

  • Widows
  • Fortunatas
  • Arachnos Soldiers
  • Crab Soldiers

Kheldians

Kheldians are not allowed because they are two beings merged into one. Angels are unable to merge with other beings.

This includes:

  • Peacebringers
  • Warshades

Masterminds

Masterminds are not allowed because most current pet and minion-based Mastermind options do not fit the Angels of Avalon concept.

Beast Mastery is the only current Mastermind primary that could possibly work with the theme. However, because it is the only Mastermind option that fits, Masterminds are not included for now for the sake of simplicity and consistency.

If Homecoming ever adds a Knight-themed, Angel-themed, or otherwise appropriate Mastermind option, this restriction may be reconsidered.

Back to Requirements index

Preferred Origin

Angels of Avalon should use Magic as their origin when possible, because it is the closest in-game origin to the Angels’ theme and nature.

This is preferred for theme consistency, but it is not treated as a major issue because origin has little practical effect on the character after creation.

Powerset Requirements

Most powersets are allowed as long as they can fit the Angels of Avalon theme through color, concept, costume, and presentation.

Angels may use elemental, mystical, martial, radiant, natural, or knightly powers. Powers that are heavily technological, monstrous, robotic, villainous, or too far outside the Angel theme are not allowed.

Some powersets may technically be usable in-game but still not fit Angels of Avalon visually or thematically. When in doubt, the character’s overall look and concept should be reviewed for theme fit.

Poison is allowed as long as the Angel’s overall theme, costume, and presentation still fit Angels of Avalon.

Prohibited Powers

The following powers are not allowed because they are too technological, monstrous, villainous, or visually outside the Angels of Avalon theme.

Melee

  • Spines
  • Stone

Ranged

  • Assault Rifle
  • Beam Rifle
  • Dual Pistols

Armor / Shields

  • Stone Armor
  • Bio Armor

Secondary / Support

  • Devices
  • Tactical Arrow
  • Pain
  • Dark Miasma
  • Traps
  • Trick Arrow

Control

  • Arsenal Control

Dominator Assault

  • Arsenal Assault
  • Thorny Assault

Pool Powers

  • Experimentation

Epic / Patron Powers

  • Arsenal
  • Weapons

Powers not listed above may be allowed if they fit the Angels of Avalon theme, costume standards, and visual presentation.

S.T.A.R.T. Vendor Power Exceptions

Some utility, convenience, transport, vanity, and temporary powers from the S.T.A.R.T. Vendor are allowed as exceptions.

These powers are not part of the Angel’s theme or combat identity. They are allowed because Angels may team with other players, join Task Forces, help groups form, recover from defeats, assist with team endurance issues, travel more easily, reveal hidden areas, craft when needed, or use minor temporary effects.

These exceptions do not change the Angel’s required theme, costume, required flight travel power, wings, or powerset restrictions.

Team, Transport, and Convenience

  • Assemble the Team
  • Base Transporter
  • Supergroup Portal
  • Mission Transporter
  • Team Transport Power
  • Pocket D VIP Pass
  • Athletic Run

Recovery, Survival, and Utility

  • Renewal of Light
  • Endurance Booster
  • Reveal
  • Portable Workbench
  • Power Analyzer
  • Med Pack
  • Recovery Serum
  • Resuscitator
  • Ethereal Shift
  • Kinetic Dampener

Amplifiers and Boosters

  • Offense Amplifier
  • Defense Amplifier
  • Survival Amplifier
  • XP Boosters

Minor Temporary / Vanity Powers

  • Self Destruction
  • Shadowy Presence
  • Snowball
  • Flying Disc
  • Mystic Fortune
  • Inner Inspiration
  • Secondary Mutation
  • Ghost Slaying Axe
  • Sands of Mu
  • Blackwand
  • Envenomed Dagger
  • Signature Summon

Signature Summon is allowed only as a temporary S.T.A.R.T. Vendor exception. It does not make pet-focused builds, Mastermind-style concepts, or combat-pet themes allowed.

Not Allowed S.T.A.R.T. Vendor / Travel Powers

The following powers are not allowed because they do not fit the Angels of Avalon visual theme or required flight identity:

  • Jump Pack
  • Steam Jump
  • Void Skiff
  • Rocket Board

Coyote Travel Power and Panther Travel Power are not allowed at this time because animal-form travel powers do not currently fit the Angels of Avalon theme.

If Beast Mastery or an appropriate animal-themed concept is ever reconsidered in the future, Coyote Travel Power and Panther Travel Power may also be reconsidered. See leadership before taking either one.

Back to Requirements index

Required Travel Power

Every Angel must take one of the following travel powers:

  • Flight
  • Mystic Flight

Additional travel powers are allowed if desired, but every Angel must have a form of flight.

Back to Requirements index

Character Model Requirements

All Angels use female human body parts.

Angels should have a human appearance. Monster parts, animal parts, robotic parts, undead parts, and extreme body shapes do not fit the Angels of Avalon theme.

The following body settings are used for consistency while still allowing each Angel to look unique:

  • Height: 5’5” to 6’
  • Physique: from 10% before center to 10% after center
  • Shoulders: center
  • Chest: any size
  • Waist: smallest
  • Hips: any size
  • Legs: center to longest
  • Face A: Face 1 through Face 30, or Young Face 1 through Young Face 15
  • Face B: none, Makeup Lip Color, or Makeup 1 through Makeup 5
  • Skin Color: any natural color, with no extremes
  • Hair: any normal hair, plus Victorian, Gunslinger, Victory Laurel, and Club styles
  • Hair Color: any
  • Ears: normal

Arm tattoos are only allowed on the Human Form costume and should be approved by leadership.

Avoid extreme, monstrous, animal, robotic, undead, villainous, or overly silly looks.

Back to Requirements index

Costume Requirements

Each Angel has three required costumes, also called forms:

  • Human Form
  • Angel Form
  • Battle Armor

There should be no separate head pieces, face pieces, face markings beyond approved makeup options, tails, or unrelated visual effects unless specifically approved as part of the current SG requirements.

Auras are not normally used unless they are part of an approved costume form, such as Battle Armor’s Ascension Radiance.

Vanity Pets

Vanity pets are optional. If an Angel uses a vanity pet, it should fit the Angels of Avalon theme whenever possible.

Combat pets, minion-based character concepts, and pet-focused builds are still not allowed under the current Requirements.

Human Form

Human Form is the Angel’s mortal appearance.

  • No wings
  • Powers should match the Angel’s hair color whenever possible
  • Arm tattoos may be used only in this form and should be approved by leadership

Angel Form

Angel Form is the Angel’s true white form.

  • Angel Wings
  • White power colors
  • White costume appearance
  • Hair keeps its original color
  • Used for missions, arcs, radios, tips, and general play

Battle Armor

Battle Armor is the Angel’s armored combat form.

  • Angel Battle Armor
  • Valkyrie Wings
  • Ascension Radiance colors matching the Angel’s hair color whenever possible
  • Used for intense events, Task Forces, Trials, and major battles
Back to Requirements index

Weapon Customization

Some non-tech weapon styles are allowed because they have acceptable elemental, mystical, or knightly visual options.

Weapon colors should match the Angel’s chosen hair color whenever possible. In Angel Form, weapon and power colors should be white, while the Angel’s hair keeps its original color.

Allowed weapon styles:

  • Katana
  • Broad Sword
  • Dual Blades
  • Titan Weapons
  • Axe
  • Bow using the Vanguard Bow
  • Claws using Vanguard Blades
  • Staff, as long as it has a medieval, mystical, knightly, or Avalon-appropriate appearance
  • Mace

No sword, blade, or weapon should be named Excalibur.

Excalibur is King Arthur’s weapon and is tied to the Well of Furies. It is not an Angel-made weapon, and it should not be duplicated out of respect for Arthur and the legend of Camelot.

Rularuu weapons are not allowed.

Rularuu is an enemy of Angels of Avalon. His weapons should not be used by Angels, because they may carry corrupting influence and do not belong in the hands of Avalon’s defenders.

Weapon choices should avoid modern, technological, villainous, silly, joke-based, or enemy-themed appearances. This includes joke weapons such as mops.

Back to Requirements index

Naming Structure

All Angel names must begin with Angel.

The second part of the name should be based on the character’s primary power, secondary power, element, theme, or identity.

If the simple English version of the name is already taken, another language may be used as long as the name still fits the Angels of Avalon theme.

Examples:

  • Angel Fire may become Angel Ignis
  • Angel Ice may become Angel Kori
  • Angel Light may become Angel Lux

Angel names should avoid joke names, villain names, tech-based names, monster-themed names, or names that break the SG theme.

Back to Requirements index

Final Theme Check

An Angel should look, feel, and play like she belongs in Angels of Avalon.

The character should match the SG’s theme through her archetype, origin, powers, costume forms, weapon choices, name, and overall presentation.

The Requirements page explains how to create an Angel. The Rules page explains how members participate after joining.
